Time is such an interesting concept. At certain times of life, we feel like we have so much of it and at others, we are deeply aware of how quickly it is passing. It is similar to an illusion. I wrote this poem to remind everyone reading, the present moment is the only “time” we are guaranteed. So let’s do our best to make the most of it!
The Illusion of Time
I seem to be one of the few that realize
we are all living a short, human life.
We can be here today and gone tomorrow,
leaving behind an abundance of sorrow.
And although I know souls live forever,
I still feel the need to put maximum effort
into every single relationship
as if it’s the last one I will ever get.
I mean, I know that it seems legit
to believe someone’s heart will never quit.
And assume they will always hold the will to live,
and always have another breath to give.
But the fact of the matter is…
Time here is short and doesn’t last,
it’s always moving and can quickly pass.
The present then becomes the past.
Time is now, that’s all you have.
All you have is now, but that’s all you need.
It only takes a moment to plant a seed.
Only a moment to take a breath and breathe,
only a moment to open your eyes and see.
That life is now, please don’t wait!
It only takes a moment to decide to change.
So if you love someone, tell them now.
If you want someone, tell them how.
If you miss someone, let them know.
Because the illusion of time always comes & goes.
